Objectives of the Course This course focuses chronologically on art, design, religion, philosophy, and science at the macro level, beginning with prehistoric times and continuing to the present; at the micro level, it aims to acquire content consisting of the focus of the discipline of art history, which is directly related to the disciplines at the macro level. While art history aims to gain a historical understanding of the origins of works in specific world cultures, it asks questions about the conditions of their production, their makers, the functions of the paintings, images and objects used. At this point, the course aims to lay the foundation for understanding artistic creative expressions and the past, and to show how art forms a bridge between the past and the present.
Course Content This course treats the themes parallel to and focused on the disciplines of art history in literature, chronologically, from primitive human culture to contemporary art of the 20th century. In doing so, the consideration and study of historical processes forms the basic content of the course and includes fundamental examples of Western/non-Western art and design. Assignments are given to enhance students' research, writing, and presentation skills.
